If you need heavy project planning with dependencies and resource management, Planner falls short and a specialised package is the better fit.

Is Planner included in our licence?

The task boards are included in most Microsoft 365 business licences. The heavier planning features fall outside that and need a separate licence. We map that out beforehand, so you are not caught out halfway.

Does this work for people out in the field?

Microsoft Planner is the task module of Microsoft 365. You work with boards per project, columns per stage, and tasks carrying an owner, a deadline and attachments. Anyone working in Teams opens Planner as a tab in the very channel where the project is already being discussed.

Microsoft has brought its task apps together: personal tasks, team planning and heavier project planning now sit under one name. For an SME that means a single place for "what needs doing and by whom", without another subscription from an outside vendor.

The gain is not the board itself but the connection. A task that appears on its own when a deal is won in HubSpot, an approved document that spawns a follow-up: you arrange that with Power Automate directly on Planner.
